Pilar Montoya Manzano, La Faraona, is born in 1960 in the city of Seville. Daughter of the Maestro Farruco, she is introduced to the purest flamenco, just like her sister La Farruca, since early age. She begins to dance at the age of 15, following the teaching of her father and accompanying him in all his performances and tours. She takes part in the show Flamenco Puro in its long season in Broadway together with great flamenco figures on the time such as El Güito, Manuela Carrasco and Angelita Vargas, among others. As a soloist she has the leading role in imporant artistic moments in Andalusia Flamenca, Persecución or Bodas de Gloria.
“The mother of bulería” as called by her father, she always offers us the most festive airs in a ‘canastero’ dance where she holds on to race and heritage transmitting great substance. Her majestic size gives her a singular character, a gypsy stamp, unique in her movements and jumps.
Since her nephew Farruquito initializes his career as the head of the family, La Faraona has participated in all his shows: Raíces Flamencas, La Len Varo, Alma Vieja, Farruquito y Familia. Currently she shares stage with the new production of her sister La Farruca “GITANAS”.
